Collaborating with teachers and multidisciplinary teams, you will embed therapeutic, pupil-centered approaches and maintain progress records to inform staff feedback and planning.
Role Overview As a Learning Mentor, you will support autistic pupils with complex SEND needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and build independence within a structured, nurturing environment. Your responsibilities include acting as a positive role model, preparing learning resources, delivering personalized support, and collaborating with teachers and multidisciplinary teams to embed therapeutic, pupil-centered approaches. You will support communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and behavior, while encouraging engagement and promoting wellbeing. Maintaining accurate pupil progress records and providing feedback to staff are also key duties.
Qualifications And SkillsYou should have GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent), experience supporting children with SEND—preferably autistic pupils—and demonstrate resilience, empathy, and a proactive attitude. A strong commitment to high professional standards and continuous improvement is essential. Previous experience in SEND settings is highly desirable.
