Job summary

Middlesex County STEM Charter School (MCSCS) seeks a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant to perform comprehensive evaluations, develop IEPs, and collaborate with CST members, families and staff in Perth Amboy, NJ. The LDTC will ensure compliance with NJDOE and IDEA while supporting inclusive practices.

Applicants hold a Master's degree, NJ Educational Services Certificate with LDTC endorsement, valid U.S.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid NJ Educational Services Certificate & Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant endorsement
• NJ Criminal History;
• Work authorization in the U.S.;
• Tuberculosis Test;
• Experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive educational evaluations and prepare legally compliant reports.
• Participate in Child Study Team (CST) meetings, including identification, eligibility, annual review, and reevaluation meetings.
• Contribute to the development and revision of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Collaborate with families and staff to explain evaluation results and educational recommendations.
• Provide consultation and instructional support to general and special education teachers.
• Assist with progress monitoring and data-informed decision making.
• Ensure compliance with NJDOE, IDEA, and charter school policies.
• Maintain accurate, confidential student records and required documentation.
• Serve as a consultant to parents, school personnel and community groups on child development and educational topics.

Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC)

Responsibilities Include:

• Conduct comprehensive educational evaluations and prepare legally compliant reports
• Participate in Child Study Team (CST) meetings, including identification, eligibility, annual review, and reevaluation meetings.

• Collaborate with families and staff to explain evaluation results and educational recommendations.

• Ensure compliance with NJDOE, IDEA, and charter school policies
• Maintain accurate, confidential student records and required documentation
• Serve as a consultant to parents, school personnel and community groups on child development and educational topics.
• Perform all duties required as a member of the child study team by administrative code, state, and federal laws and board policy
• Maintain professional competence through continuing education and other professional growth activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Education Officer or Director of Special Education.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with students, families, staff, and leadership
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal policies and ethical standardsMaintain strong organizational and documentation practices
• Demonstrate professionalism that supports a positive school culture

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of special education law and evaluation procedures
• Competency with educational testing and report writing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based environment

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law, administrative code and provisions of the board's policy on the evaluation of certified staff
