Job summary

About MCSCS

Middlesex County STEM Charter School (MCSCS) is a public school serving grades Kindergarten through 8th grades and open to all students who reside in the City of Perth Amboy. The school is free to all students and families and is a replication of the Central Jersey College Prep Charter School, a recipient of the 2016 Blue‑Ribbon Award and other prestigious awards.

Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC)
Responsibilities Include:
  • Conduct comprehensive educational evaluations and prepare legally compliant reports
  • Participate in Child Study Team (CST) meetings, including identification, eligibility, annual review, and reevaluation meetings.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with families and staff to explain evaluation results and educational recommendations.
  • Provide consultation and instructional support to general and special education teachers
  • Assist with progress monitoring and data-informed decision making
  • Ensure compliance with NJDOE, IDEA, and charter school policies
  • Maintain accurate, confidential student records and required documentation
  • Serve as a consultant to parents, school personnel and community groups on child development and educational topics.
  • Perform all duties required as a member of the child study team by administrative code, state, and federal laws and board policy
  • Maintain professional competence through continuing education and other professional growth activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Education Officer or Director of Special Education.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of special education law and evaluation procedures
  • Competency with educational testing and report writing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based environment

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law, administrative code and provisions of the board's policy on the evaluation of certified staff

Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid NJ Educational Services Certificate & Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant endorsement
  • NJ Criminal History
  • Work authorization in the U.S.
  • Tuberculosis Test
  • Experience is a plus
