  • Solid organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision, and follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • DEIA Training and Curriculum Design: develop, maintain, and improve DEIA learning modules; ensure accessible language and diverse perspectives; establish metrics for effectiveness.
  • Expert Facilitation and New Hire Orientation: facilitate live and virtual workshops; own and deliver orientation components; oversee LMS tracking and post-session feedback.
  • Cross-Organizational Support and Train-the-Trainer: act as organizational instructor; coach SMEs; upskill department leads; foster cross-department knowledge sharing.

Learning & Development Generalist

Full Time HQ, Portland, OR, US

Salary Range: $47,528.00 To $71,281.60 Annually

Job Description:

The Learning & Development Generalist drives organization-wide growth by designing, delivering, and scaling inclusive education programs that support employee success, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement. This role supports the building of a continuous learning culture with an emphasis on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) training, new hire orientation, dynamic workshop facilitation, and the adoption of new HR systems, tools, and processes. As a cross-organizational teaching resource, this position collaborates with every department to elevate internal instructional skills, build psychologically safe classrooms, support professional development and upskilling, and ensure organizational values actively live within all training environments.

DEIA Training and Curriculum Design

  • Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of comprehensive DEIA learning modules covering unconscious bias, microaggressions, psychological safety, cultural competency, and related curriculum focused on organizational processes, HR systems, and workplace practices.
  • Review existing operational training materials across all departments to ensure accessible language, universal design for learning (UDL), and diverse perspectives.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of DEIA education initiatives and report on behavioral changes across the organization.

Expert Facilitation and New Hire Orientation

  • Facilitate highly engaging, interactive live and virtual workshops for diverse audiences of all career levels.
  • Own, design, and deliver the cultural and strategic components of the New Hire Orientation program to anchor new employees in organizational values.
  • Oversee the end-to-end administration of learning events, including scheduling, learning management system (LMS) tracking, and post-session feedback loops.

Cross-Organizational Support and "Train-the-Trainer"

  • Serve as the organizational instructor, coaching subject matter experts (SMEs) across IT, Product, Service, etc. on how to teach effectively.
  • Upskill departmental leads in modern facilitation methods, adult learning principles, and inclusive presentation techniques.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental knowledge sharing, peer-to-peer learning circles, and collaborative workshops to break down internal silos.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or equivalent practical experience, plus 3–5 years of dedicated L&D experience.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning methodologies.
