Job description

Overview

As a Learning Design Manager, you will co-lead the execution of high-quality K-12 learning solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop engaging and effective educational content. This role focuses on proactively working with project management, achieving superior instructional design, and supporting client needs while ensuring alignment with best practices in curriculum development and digital learning strategies. You will prototype and scale AI-powered learning design solutions that align with your client’s needs.

The ideal candidate has a background in Science education and experience in curriculum instructional leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Client Advocacy & Relationship Management
  • Serve as a point of contact for select stakeholders as part of the account team.
  • Build trusted relationships with select stakeholders to identify opportunities for value add to their goals and the product experience.
  • Bright ideas to the internal account team and together finalize if and how they will move forward to the client.
Client Success & Retention
  • Drive measurable client success through proactive engagement and issue resolution.
  • Act as an escalation resource for the internal team, ensuring transparent communication and swift resolution of critical issues for the client.
Content Quality & Editorial Oversight
  • Serve as the final editorial authority on assigned projects, reviewing and approving all deliverables before client submission to ensure they meet quality, accuracy, and pedagogical standards.
  • Provide clear editorial guidance and feedback to the learning design team, fostering a culture of excellence in content development.
  • Step in as a content writer when needed to support project momentum by creating or revising related instructional assets.
  • Ensure all content aligns with client expectations, brand voice, and best practices in K-12 science education.
  • Provide options for the client when there are unique perspectives (more than one way to teach a course or topic) or when the changing political landscape demands us to bring the perspectives forward for the client to make a final decision on behalf of their product.
Learning Experience Innovation & Delivery
  • Support the end-to-end design and prototyping of high-quality, future-ready learning solutions, including frameworks, pedagogical models, courses, assessments, and multimedia. (Science specific)
  • Use AI-driven tools and frameworks (such as LearningMate’s ENGAGE, Kadal) to create novel, scalable, and efficient curriculum development and instructional design processes.
  • Collaborate with internal learning design, technology, and content teams to ensure client goals are met through innovative, data-informed solutions.
Performance Measurement & Insights
  • Analyze and provide insights into performance data and solution actionable recommendations.
  • Use data to augment or pivot project teams around the work to ensure quality and timelines are met.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team (in-house and freelance) that delivers client solutions.
  • Foster a collaborative, kind, agile, and results-driven team culture that aligns with organizational goals and client priorities.
  • Creates professional development opportunities that empower individuals to grow and innovate.
Thought Leadership & Collaboration
  • Represent LearningMate as a thought leader through webinars, speaking engagements, and social media.
  • Advocate for best practices in K-12 learning solutions, aligning with areas such as principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and learning accessibility.
  • Collaborate globally across teams to share insights and drive continuous improvement in solutions and processes.
Presales Strategy & Solutions
  • Partner with sales and solutions teams to drive presales initiatives, including proposals, statements of work (SOW), estimations, and client presentations.
  • Design innovative prototypes and scalable solutions that align with evolving client needs.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Science; Master’s in Science, Learning Design, Instructional Design, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in K-12 science education, client success, instructional design, curriculum strategy, or digital content delivery.
  • Innovation & Delivery: Expertise in developing scalable learning solutions leveraging AI tools, rapid development tools, CMS and LMSs, and modern frameworks for content and curriculum design.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Learning Management Systems, content tools, project management platforms, and virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Suite).
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor teams, foster a collaborative culture, and align team performance with business goals.
  • Communication: Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with a proven ability to engage executive stakeholders.
  • Global Mindset: Experience managing onshore/offshore teams and working across global time zones with cultural awareness.
