Job summary

Volunteer State Community College is seeking temporary, part-time tutors for the Learning Commons tutoring pool. Tutors provide individual and small-group support, assist students with navigating online learning environments, and help instructors respond to student work comments.

Minimum qualifications include content expertise or a degree; applicants without a degree should have at least a B or higher in the relevant course, with recommendations from college instructors.

Qualifications

• For applicants with a degree: Degree in the discipline or related field or expertise in subject matter content.
• For applicants without a degree: B or higher in course. Recommendation of two VSCC or other college-level instructors.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students one-on-one with individuals or in small groups.
• Lead small group tutoring sessions or workshops.
• Assist students in navigating online learning environments.
• Assist instructor in helping students understand and respond to comments about their work.
