Job summary

True North Federal Credit Union is seeking a Learning and Development Manager to shape how employees learn, across in-person, virtual, and self-paced formats. You’ll coach leaders, design targeted development plans, and drive practical growth beyond memos and LMS courses.

You’ll own compliance training and manage our training platform, partnering with managers to embed coaching into everyday practice. This role supports Alaska and Washington teams, with remote eligibility and travel to True

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, employee coaching, or a related field.
• Proven track record of coaching people to better performance.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills.
• Experience designing learning for different audiences and delivery formats.
• Comfort with LMS or compliance training platforms.
• Ability to build trusted relationships while giving candid feedback.
• Financial services or credit union experience is a plus.
• Coaching certification (ICF or equivalent) is a plus.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Learning and Development Manager who is energized by building a coaching culture.

This isn’t a “run the onboarding deck” role. You’ll design how our employees learn, deliver learning across in-person, virtual, and self-paced formats, and work alongside employees and managers to make sure it actually sticks.

You’ll own our compliance training program, including administration of our third-party training platform, but the heart of this role is development: coaching employees and leaders, building targeted development plans, and helping managers become better coaches themselves.

What You’ll Do

• Design and facilitate training on systems, products, services, policies, and professional skills, choosing the right format, workshop, virtual session, e-learning, job aid, or hands‑on coaching for the content and audience.
• Coach employees and people leaders, building targeted development plans and reinforcing learning through real‑time feedback and coaching.
• Build and deliver manager development programs focused on coaching, feedback, performance conversations, accountability, and employee growth.
• Partner with department leaders to assess training and development needs and create solutions aligned with business goals.
• Lead new employee onboarding and orientation, helping employees build the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to succeed beyond their first week.
• Administer our compliance training platform, keep required regulatory training including BSA/AML on track, and report completion and results to leadership.
• Measure what’s working, track training and coaching outcomes, and adjust programs based on results and feedback.

What You Bring

• 3–5 years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, employee coaching, or a related field.
• A genuine track record of coaching people to better performance, not just running training sessions.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills; you can hold a room or a 1:1 conversation equally well.
• Experience designing learning for different audiences and delivery formats.
• Comfort with learning management systems or compliance training platforms, along with virtual meeting and training tools.
• The ability to build trusted relationships while also giving candid, constructive feedback.
• Financial services or credit union experience is a plus.
• A coaching certification, such as ICF or equivalent, is a plus, not a requirement.

Location & Travel

Onsite candidates are preferred but this position is eligible for remote candidates based in Alaska or Washington. Because great development sometimes requires being in the room, periodic travel to True North locations in Alaska will be required.
