Job summary

Precision Garage Door Service (PGD) is seeking a forward-thinking Learning & Development Manager to build our training programs from the ground up. You will architect a scalable framework that equips technicians, installers, and salespeople with the technical, safety, and selling skills needed to excel.

You will also own building a lasting program to develop branch management into next-gen leaders, shaping PGD's training and driving measurable gains in employee performance and customer

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, Training, or Instructional Design (field service or skilled trades industry a plus).
  • Proven success designing and implementing training programs that improved performance or reduced time to competency.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and blended learning methods.
  • Comfort with training technology (LMS platforms, video tools, mobile learning apps).
  • Ability to analyze data and translate it into actionable program improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an overall learning and development strategy for the company.
  • Design, build, and execute a full-scale training program for field technicians, installers and salespeople focusing on accelerating ramp time and productivity outcomes.
  • Creates and produces training content, from idea phase to execution
  • Recommends and implements appropriate learning delivery modalities (e.g., classroom- virtual/ in-person, on demand, blended learning, etc.) to both facilitate and measure these approaches.
  • Facilitates instructor-led trainings and train-the-trainer sessions.
  • Partner with leadership, HRBP's, field trainers and other counterparts to adopt best practices and tailor programs for our workforce.
  • Develop engaging training materials including manuals, e-learning, hands-on workshops, videos, and assessments.
  • Obsess over the new employee experience by implementing a consistent onboarding program that blends classroom instruction, field shadowing, and technology-enabled learning.
  • Establish training metrics and reporting dashboards to track effectiveness, technician readiness, and program ROI.
  • Continuously refine programs based on feedback, performance data, and evolving business needs.
  • Stay current on learning trends, instructional design methods, and industry-specific certifications or compliance requirements.

What you will do:

Strong presentation and facilitation skills; comfortable in front of small and large audiences

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Ability to travel across West Coast up to 30% of the time

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000 per year.
