Job summary

City of Upper Arlington seeks a Learn to Swim Coordinator to oversee learn-to-swim instructors, activities, and facilities during scheduled shifts. You will lead, coach, and supervise staff, ensure safety, and deliver an outstanding member experience through planning, instruction, and administrative work.

The role requires 3+ years in aquatics-related work and supervisory experience, plus lifeguard certification or the ability to obtain it within 30 days.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of 3-year experience in related field; (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience. (Preferred)
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification (or ability to certify within 30 days)
  • Complete and maintain required trainings

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of daily operations in aquatics programming and facilities, including staff, participants, and equipment.
  • Supervise swim instructor staff including scheduling based on program and activity need.
  • Perform all swim instructor duties and model proactive safety and risk management.
  • Serve as an instructor as needed
  • Assist in hiring, training, orienting, scheduling, and appraising swim instructors.
  • Support on call procedures and staff schedules
  • Plan and support in-service and trainings for Aquatics and Learn to Swim staff; ensure safety, curriculum and communication standards.
  • Inventory and communicate needs for supplies or equipment to the Aquatics and Pool Manager.
  • Respond to customer and staff inquiries and direct concerns appropriately.
