Job summary

Colorado Psychiatric seeks an ice skating instructor for the Longmont Ice Pavilion. Responsibilities include co-teaching skaters of all ages using progressive methods and communicating progress to parents and staff.

Requirements include prior teaching experience, age 15+, Learn to Skate USA certification, background checks, and SafeSport training. You will assist the lead instructor and help prepare lesson plans and paperwork.

Job description

Definition:

Performs duties to teach ice skating skills to ages 4 to adult at the Longmont Ice Pavilion.

Principal Duties:

• Co-teach participants how to ice skate using safe, fun, teaching methods in a progressive manner.
• Routinely communicate student progress to appropriate parents and staff.
• Must have the ability to break down ice skating skills for comprehension, and enjoy working with skaters of all ages.
• Follow and help prepare lesson plans with lead instructor (Instructor Level 4 – Learn to Skate Instructor and or Instructor Level 5 – Learn to Skate Instructor).
• Assist lead instructor in completing all necessary paperwork including report cards for students before the last day of class.
• Prepares, cares for, and safely stores equipment used for instruction.
• Observe, follow, and enforce established policies and procedures of the division.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and/or trainings.
• Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes.

Working Environment:

Work is performed in an outdoor ice rink environment. Requires the ability to move around the ice rink and surrounding areas. Work requires ice skating, standing, walking, bending/stooping, reaching, pushing/pulling, twisting, kneeling, and squatting. Requires skill in working with a group and communicating effectively with youth participants and the public. Tolerance to cold conditions.

Qualifications:

Previous experience teaching ice skating preferred. Must be 15 years of age or older

Special Qualifications:

Learn to Skate USA Instructor certification and compliance (including but not limited to: Learn to Skate USA membership and instructor or certification course for all ages, plus background check and SafeSport training Learn to Skate USA if 18 years or older) required.

Selection:

The selection process will include complete job description review, personal interview, background investigation, criminal background check, and substance screening.
