Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking a shop associate to support LEAN 5S initiatives by constructing fixtures, shop aids and maintaining organization. The role involves fabricating parts, assisting in fixture design, and participating in continuous improvement, cost saving and safety projects.

You will cut, assemble, install floor coatings, manage stores, and perform basic welding, cutting and grinding. Candidates must have six months tool experience, strong mechanical aptitude, ability to lift

Qualifications

• Must lead a cleaning crew by scheduling tasks to meet deadlines.
• Six months experience using hand and power tools including routers and table saws.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions, e.g. work orders in MP2 system.
• Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with others.
• Ability to perform basic shop math.
• Strong organizational skills to manage information and materials.

Responsibilities

• Construct shop aids (e.g. cutting wedges, boxes, trays) for 5S initiatives.
• Apply labels, paint, and tape to flooring and equipment for 5S organization.
• Interface with department personnel on continuous improvement, cost savings, and safety.
• Construct and maintain X-ray backups.
• Cut lightweight pipe and wood pieces; assemble with brackets, fittings, and castors; deliver components.
• Assist in designing fixtures, shop aids and tables.
• Develop and maintain material lists for departments supported.
• Install and maintain floor coatings.
• Manage incoming stores to control costs.
• Basic welding, cutting, and grinding as assigned.
• Comply with safety requirements; maintain clean, safe environment; participate in training.
• Regular attendance and required overtime.
• Perform other tasks as directed.
