Job summary

Werner Electric Supply in Appleton, WI invites students to join our Continuous Improvement Intern program for Summer 2027. This learning position offers executive mentorship, Lean Six Sigma training and a chance to work on real company projects while earning up to $19 per hour.

You will shadow departments, participate in Value Stream events, and develop performance metrics with a mentor. Exceptional performers may receive year-long internships or full-time opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or related field
• Some college or better required
• Strong interest in Lean and process improvement techniques

Responsibilities

• Identify and eliminate process waste, initiate sustainable process improvement activities, and provide hands‑on training and technical support.
• Formalize and administer continuous improvement activities that drive Lean methodology across the organization.
• Direct, coordinate, and participate in Value Stream events; map current and future states with follow-up for performance.
• Develop and implement performance metrics for Lean processes and track savings; report to Leadership.
• Create communication tools to promote a Lean culture across teams.
• Participate in improvement activities with customers, vendors, and suppliers.
• Suggest and implement changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency.
• Maintain quality records and perform other duties as assigned.
