Job summary

Fragile, a hyper-growth startup redefining how people access consumer hardware, seeks a Refurbishment Process Engineer to analyze, design, and optimize repair operations across high-mix lines including PCs, coffee machines, robots, and small electronics. You will lead Lean improvements on intake, repair, testing, and repacking workflows.

You’ll implement SOPs, ergonomic workstations, and automated test rigs, and partner with Supply Chain and HR on onboarding and parts staging while tracking FPY,

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of engineering experience in high-mix manufacturing, electronics assembly, remanufacturing, or overhaul/refurbishment facilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or related field; Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
• Expertise in Lean principles (5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Kanban, Poka-Yoke) with electro-mechanical systems and testing setups.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize intake, triage, repair, testing, and repacking lines to maximize throughput across high-mix product lines.
• Create innovative packaging solutions and collaborate with suppliers to reuse designs.
• Partner with Supply Chain to optimize spare parts staging/kitting and coordinate with HR on shop-floor onboarding.
• Perform time-and-motion studies to balance workloads and reduce idle time.
• Write SOPs, visual job aids, and quality teardown guides to reduce variance and rework.
• Specify ergonomic benches, descaling stations, and automated test rigs to boost speed and safety.
• Track KPIs (FPY, MTTR, scrap rate, labor efficiency) to drive data-driven improvements.
