Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC is seeking a production-focused technician to design and build production aids for Body, Paint, and Assembly operations in Charleston. You will support internal customers by creating tooling to help meet production goals and apply Lean principles for measurable improvements.

Responsibilities include designing carts, racks, jigs/fixtures, tool holders, and related devices while collaborating with engineers and MPS experts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of relevant manufacturing experience; OR Relevant certificate and 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Preferred: 3+ years of relevant experience; OR Relevant certificate and 2+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Design & build manufacturing aids and equipment (e.g. carts, racks, jigs/fixtures, tool holders).
• Work with internal customers, engineers, MPS experts to design equipment to fulfill project requests.
• Use data to evaluate situations and build solutions with measurable improvements.
• Operate powered tools and equipment and computerized machines to produce project components.
• Identify and reduce manufacturing process wastes.
• Provide support to enable team members to self-implement projects.
• Be an “ambassador” for MPS and continuous improvement in the plant.
• Work on time-sensitive projects to support customer goals.
• Support 5S, CIP, standardization initiatives.
