Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC in Charleston, SC is seeking a production technician to own an assigned production area, ensure equipment performance, and drive uptime and quality. You will understand cell sequences, perform quality assurance actions, and conduct preventive maintenance while documenting downtime and issues.

The role emphasizes continuous improvement, backup equipment readiness, and managing projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Requires HS diploma/GED and 2 years automotive manufacturing experience; automation/background preferred.
Certification or Associates Degree can substitute experience.
Willingness to work in a 3-shift rotation and travel locally for training.

Responsibilities

Monitor and operate production equipment to meet daily quality/volume targets; handle minor faults.
Understand cell sequence; recover from faults; ensure quality via sequence adjustments.
Perform basic troubleshooting and component replacement; escalate complex issues.
Conduct routine quality checks and maintain poka-yoke systems; stop if standards not met.
Document shift handovers, downtime events, and quality issues clearly; communicate with shifts.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks (daily/weekly/monthly) including cleaning and lubrication.
Maintain order, cleanliness, and safety following 5S and TPM.
Ensure equipment readiness after shutdowns and during weekend shifts; report issues.
