Job summary

Gentex is seeking a Production Group Leader I to develop work teams responsible for producing high-quality products and meeting production requirements. The role focuses on safety, cost control, and continuous improvement.

You will lead direct reports, manage performance, and drive lean practices across the manufacturing area while interfacing with other departments to ensure quality and customer satisfaction. A 2-4 year degree or equivalent experience is expected.

Qualifications

• 2-4 year degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proven leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety of all team members and remove barriers.
• Lead and manage a team of direct reports including recordkeeping, time-tracking, training/development and performance management.
• Communicate policies and objectives between employees and the company.
• Coach continuous improvement via lean practices (5S, 8 Forms of Waste).
• Demonstrate knowledge of current equipment and processes to support development.
• Lead cross-functional teams to address root causes (5 Why’s, 8D).
• Own and report departmental KPIs.
• Create a positive working environment fostering growth and professionalism.
• Interface with other departments to meet quality standards and customer requirements.
• Plan production to meet customer demand with high product quality.
• Participate in cross-functional teams for new products/processes readiness.
• Handle disciplinary actions per policy with HR assistance.
• Develop knowledge of all workstations in the area.
• Other duties as assigned.
