Job summary

Volvo Cars is seeking a Shop Engineer to drive improvements across the Body Shop. You will lead process engineering initiatives, implement lean methods, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize current and new processes.

The role emphasizes safety, ergonomics, and cost control while supporting launch activities and Kaizen events. You should have an engineering degree and 2+ years' experience in repetitive assembly; Six Sigma and strong communication are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 2+ years' experience on manual, highly repetitive assembly processes.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.
  • Excellent skills in MS Office, Team Center and simulation software is a plus.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Effective communication in a global, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive efficiency improvements for current processes with Production.
  • Lead continuous improvements to process delivery, quality and cost.
  • Participate in DMAIC problem analyses and solution processes.
  • Manage process engineering targets in time/technique/cost.
  • Increase commonality and share best practices within Volvo Cars Manufacturing.
  • Support core or commodity processes when expertise is needed.
  • Interface between Production and time setting group Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Plan for future project deliverables and rebalance staffing.
