Job summary

Volvo Cars is seeking a Shop Engineer in our Body Shop to lead current and future manufacturing processes. You will join a growing team of Engineers driving continuous improvements in efficiency, quality and cost, while supporting training and development within the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in manual, highly repetitive and short cycle time assembly processes.

Responsibilities

  • Drive efficiency improvements for current processes with Production.
  • Lead continuous improvements to process delivery, quality and cost.
  • Participate in 2nd line process analysis (DMAIC) and problem solving with expertise when needed.
  • Own Process Engineering targets for time/technique/cost.
  • Share best practices across Volvo Cars Manufacturing.
  • Reduce manufacturing variability in Process Engineering.
  • Support core or commodity when expertise is needed.
  • Interface between Production and Manufacturing Engineering groups.
  • Drive improvements for current/new processes under industrialization with Production/Launch.
  • Plan for future model deliverables and rebalance staffing.
  • Implement lean process improvements and reduce waste.
  • Lead Kaizen events with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform ROI calculations and time/capacity analyses.
  • Provide training and facilitate Kaizen workshops.
