Job summary

Volvo Cars in Ridgeville, SC, is seeking a Process Engineer in the Body Shop to drive efficiency and continuous improvement across current and future manufacturing processes. You will join a growing team of Engineers and Analysts, leading lean and DMAIC-driven projects and acting as the interface between Production and Manufacturing Engineering.

You will develop standard labor hours, takt times, and process capability while supporting launches and cost-reduction targets.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience from manual, highly repetitive and short cycle time assembly processes.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.
• Excellent skills in MS Office, Teamcenter and preferably simulation software.
• Experience in project management.
• Effective communication skills in a global, cross-functional environment.
• Expert knowledge in balancing, manning calculations, productivity analysis/loss analysis, capacity analysis, and ergonomics.
• Strong knowledge of Product and Process Engineering.
• Experience of Leading People.

Responsibilities

• Drive efficiency improvements for current processes together with Production.
• Work for continuous improvements to process delivery, quality and cost (man-hours/non-value added).
• Participate in 2nd line process problem analysis (DMAIC) and problem-solving when needed.
• Responsible for Process Engineering targets within time/technique/cost.
• Increase commonality and share best practices within Volvo Cars Manufacturing.
• Decrease manufacturing variability within the Process Engineering area.
• Plan for future car projects deliverables and rebalance manning requirements.
• Lead Kaizen events with cross-functional teams.
• Review material facades and line side part staging for improvements.
• Be an expert in Volvo Car Line Fundamentals and spread knowledge to other teams.
