Job summary

APS is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to launch and scale production of a new electromechanical system in Houston, TX. You will lead Lean manufacturing on the shop floor, set up the assembly line, and own quality from incoming parts to completed systems.

You will drive First Article Inspections, run run-off testing, and bring DFM/DFA input into next-generation design, partnering with Engineering, Purchasing and Planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in an electromechanical or machine-building environment.
• Hands-on Lean Manufacturing experience including setup or improvement of an assembly line or work cell.
• Experience applying DFM/DFA and supporting new product introduction (NPI).
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills; proficient with inspection tools.
• Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
• Proficient in SolidWorks; working knowledge of BOMs and ERP/MRP systems.
• Self-starter comfortable in a small team and able to switch between tasks.

Responsibilities

• Set up the production assembly line, including workstations, material flow and line balancing.
• Apply Lean tools (5S, standard work, value stream mapping, kanban, error-proofing) to build scalable processes.
• Design and build assembly fixtures, tooling and test aids.
• Create and maintain work instructions, routings and BOMs in the ERP system.
• Troubleshoot assembly and build issues on the floor and drive permanent fixes.
• Own the quality system for production: create inspection plans and direct the Quality Inspector.
• Lead First Article Inspections with new suppliers and drive ECOs.
• Support next-generation design with DFM/DFA input and lessons learned.
