Job summary

Sterling St James LLC in Decorah, Iowa seeks an Industrial Engineer to identify issues that slow product flow and apply lean principles to remove bottlenecks and reduce WIP. You will supervise IE operators and technicians, provide direction, and build their capability and performance.

Responsibilities include leading site lean activities (5S, standard work, visual management, Kaizen), standardizing processes, driving continuous improvement across manufacturing and office, and delivering savings

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering is required.
• Minimum 5 years of Industrial Engineering experience.
• Experience with LEAN principles and throughput improvement.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead site lean activities (5S, standard work, visual management, takt, VSM, Kaizen, 8D) to reduce waste and boost productivity.
• Develop and lead CI culture with facility leads, supervisors, and managers.
• Standardize and optimize manufacturing processes, layouts, and flow.
• Lead continuous improvement across manufacturing and office functions.
• Develop plans, drive projects, and ensure on-time savings goals.
• Design equipment layouts, workflow, and safety measures to maximize utilization.
• Own and manage equipment capital expenditures including design and procurement.
• Collaborate with Ops Manager and leadership to map CI roadmap.
• Create capacity models, production planning tools, and time standards.
