Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Saint Paul, MN, seeks a Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing in a cleanroom environment, driving safety, quality, and productivity while applying Lean principles.

You will coach staff, monitor KPIs, ensure FDA/ISO compliance, and collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to implement continuous improvements and cost savings.

This role requires 3–5 years in regulated manufacturing and 1–2 years in supervision; shift Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM–1:30 AM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years experience in regulated manufacturing (medical device or pharma preferred).
• 1–2 years in supervisory or leadership role.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and GMP.
• Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
• Cleanroom operations and contamination control.
• Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day manufacturing floor operations, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are met.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, high-performance work environment.
• Lead and coach team members in Lean tools (5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, Root Cause Analysis).
• Identify and eliminate waste through continuous improvement initiatives and kaizen events.
• Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce variability.
• Ensure FDA, ISO 13485, and internal quality standards compliance.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve issues and support new product introductions.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support employee development and training.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support audits/inspections.
• As a grade 15 supervisor, demonstrate lean systems leadership and training abilities across the building.
• Teach others how teams’ performance ties to financial outcomes and support planning.
• Identify cost-improvement opportunities within controlled financial outcomes.
