Job summary

Abbott in Woodridge, St. Paul, MN, seeks a Production Supervisor to lead a manufacturing team in a cleanroom environment for high-quality medical devices. You will drive Lean initiatives, coach operators, and ensure safety, quality and productivity in a GMP-regulated setting.

You will coach teams on 5S, standard work, and root cause analysis while collaborating with Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain to implement improvements and support new product introductions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, life sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device/pharma preferred).
  • 1–2 years in a supervisory/leadership role.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and GMP.
  • Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
  • Cleanroom operations and contamination control.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with continuous improvement focus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations on the manufacturing floor, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are met.

  • Lead and coach team members in Lean tools such as 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Identify and eliminate waste through continuous improvement initiatives and kaizen events.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce variability.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and internal quality standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve issues and support new product introductions.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support employee development and training.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support audits and inspections.

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Woodridge, St Paul, MN, location in the Structural Heart Business.

Main Purpose of Role

At Abbott, you will lead a team of manufacturing associates in a cleanroom or controlled environment, ensuring the production of high-quality medical devices. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement while applying Lean Manufacturing principles to drive operational excellence.

What You’ll Work On
  • Supervise day-to-day operations on the manufacturing floor, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are met.

  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and internal quality standards.

  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support employee development and training.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support audits and inspections.
  • In addition to the duties of a grade 14 supervisor, a grade 15 supervisor has demonstrated leadership capabilities in the areas of lean systems and Tier meetings, to the point where they become a training resource for other areas within the building.
  • Able to teach others how their teams performance ties to the financial outcomes monthly and ability to support the financial planning process.
  • Ability to identify opportunities within the financial outcomes that are within their control and propose cost improvement projects.
Shift

Monday - Thursday, 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, life sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device or pharmaceutical preferred).
  • Minimum 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Knowledge of: FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and GMP.
  • Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
  • Cleanroom operations and contamination control.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications (preferred): Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.

The base pay for this position is $68,000.00 - $136,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
