Job summary

Shuttlewagon, a Wabtec Company, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and improve manufacturing processes in a low-volume, high-mix environment. You will lead continuous improvement initiatives, apply Lean principles, and collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and production teams to drive quality and efficiency.

The role reports to the Operations Manager and requires a BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and 3–5+ years in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or similar field.
• 3–5+ years in a manufacturing environment, low volume/high mix preferred.
• 2–3 years of Lean experience preferred.
• Proficient in leading continuous improvement, Lean initiatives and cost reduction.
• Proficient with Microsoft products and operating systems; ability to write reports clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing processes for low-volume, high-mix production.
• Create standard work, run Kaizen events, problem solving, line balancing, Poka-Yoke, supplier development and variation reduction.
• Use Lean principles to optimize workforce utilization, line balancing, space and workflow for maximum efficiency.
• Design layout of workflow and material flow to enable pull systems for inventory replenishment.
• Collaborate with product engineering, purchasing and suppliers to reduce variability in manufacturing and assembly.
