Job summary

Wabtec in Kansas City, MO seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to drive continuous improvement across plant processes, reduce waste and increase efficiency. You will lead lean initiatives and collaborate with engineering, purchasing and production teams to improve product quality and flow.

The role requires a BS in a manufacturing-related field and 3–5+ years in manufacturing with LEAN experience. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–5+ years in a manufacturing environment; low volume/high mix preferred.
• 2–3 years LEAN experience preferred.
• Proven ability to lead continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and related software.
• Strong report writing and business communication skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate teams and work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing processes for low-volume, high-mix environment.
• Create standard work, run Kaizen events, problem solving, line balancing, Poka‑Yoke.
• Collaborate with engineering, purchasing and suppliers to reduce variability.
• Lead projects independently, often with limited authority.
• Apply root-cause analysis to reduce process variation and improve quality.
