Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. seeks an MPS expert to advance the Mercedes-Benz Production System across Alabama facilities and international sites. You will drive lean implementations, lead complex projects, and train teams to sustain improvements.

Qualifications

Purpose of the Position

• Under general supervision, responsible for the further development of the Mercedes-Benz Production System (MPS) and, as a business partner, for enabling the production areas in its implementation. Actively support the implementation of lean processes and principles in the company - both in the production processes and in the qualification of employees and management for the production system. Focus on short-term, operative projects as well as long-term strategic topics and initiatives.
• Plan, organize and manage MPS expert projects at the Tuscaloosa site and, on occasion, at other international plants. Support employees and managers in the lean implementation in the role of a consultant. Work with state-of-the-art technologies and - topic-related - with all production sites in Assembly Operations. We are globally networked within the MPS expert network and actively engage in the exchange of experience and know-how development. Through our affiliation with production planning and the digitization functions, we think of the production system "End 2 End" and integrate digital innovations whenever they are expedient.

Essential Functions

• Analyze, design, and optimize complex processes in production, logistics, and service areas in alignment with lean principles, in close collaboration with cross-functional partners. Apply various lean methodologies such as value stream analysis and lean assessments.
• Evaluate the maturity level of production systems within facilities, develop target states, and define actionable steps for implementation.
• Collaborate with Shop Leaders to advance the production system through successive stages of the shop life cycle.
• Facilitate training for production teams and leadership to build sustainable Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) capabilities.
• Provide rapid on-site support leveraging shop-floor expertise and established networks.
• Deliver data-driven pre-analyses and support informed decision-making processes.
• Share best practices and insights from the global network to enhance local implementations.
• Guide and support change management initiatives within the context of the production system.
• Offer expertise in process standardization and harmonization as foundational elements for digital transformation.
• Utilize lean tools to deliver proactive and reactive crisis management support as needed.
• Plan, organize, and manage MPS expert projects with a focus on goal achievement and effective measure implementation.
• Provide consulting support to employees and managers during lean transformation efforts.
• Lead the development, coordination, piloting, and rollout of lean methods and innovations, including those related to digitalization, in collaboration with production and planning teams across international locations.
• Design and implement qualification programs tailored to organizational needs, including planning and delivery of targeted training.
• Promote knowledge transfer to foster acceptance and integration of the production system and lean practices.

In order to prepare you ideally for your task as an MPS expert, there is the requirement of completing training as an MPS expert. For this purpose, we have developed a unique training concept for Lean Consultants in cooperation with Reutlingen University.

Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to Management or Safety Department.

Qualifikationen

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.

Education

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain/Operations Management.

Experience

• A minimum of three (3) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s): Production (e.g. as process engineer), production planning, logistics or production-related areas.
• Knowledge of production and logistics processes, in LEAN Manufacturing, CIP and project management.

Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.

• Effective problem solving skills at the interface in production (e.g. as process engineer), production planning, logistics or production-related areas.
• Ability to clearly communicate information, both verbally and in writing as well as ability to communicate efficiently with all necessary parties at MBUSI and in Germany on a regular basis.
• Excellent verbal and written skills, inter-personal skills, consulting cometence, good analytical ability, creativity, presentation, facilitation, and project management skills.
• Ability to work well with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills
