Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. is hiring Specialists and Team Members to support headcount planning for Body and Paint at our Alabama production sites. You will lead forecasting, reporting, and alignment with German partners, ensuring cost, safety, and quality targets are met.

The role requires a degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related field and at least three years in manufacturing manpower planning, with Lean experience and strong teamwork and English communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain/Operations Management, or related area.
• Minimum of three years of experience in an engineering/manufacturing setting with emphasis on manpower planning, continuous improvement, and project management.
• Experience in headcount or process planning.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in English.
• Proficiency with MS Office and TEAMS.

Responsibilities

• Plan shop headcount requirements for Body and Paint.
• Lead and implement headcount forecast for Operational Planning (MBBP), Pre-calculation (VK) and future strategy decisions by preparing all required reporting within MBUSI and towards Germany.
• Standardize headcount planning across plants and ensure correct reporting in WorkForcePlanning software.
• Plan project and ramp-up headcount (ePK) with Body/Paint Project Leaders and partners in Germany.
• Lead and support manpower meetings/report-outs across all levels of the organization.
• Drive Continuous Improvement through collaboration within Series Planning and with Engineering/Production groups.
• Develop and coordinate Production Flow management topics within Body Shop (throughput time and simulations).
• Determine shop operating models to optimize headcount and run time across shops.
• Develop and implement monthly KPI reporting for the assigned areas and support departmental scorecards.
• Support Production on the shop floor to verify headcount needs and monitor actuals.
• Support ergonomic studies and planning for new model projects.
• General knowledge of production and quality requirements for Body/Paint processes.

Purpose of the Position

Under general supervision, this position ensures that headcount planning and calculation needs are implemented within MBUSI safety, quality, timing, and cost targets. The position supports a controlled, standardized approach for overall resource implementation and plant wide communication.

Essential Functions

• Plan shop headcount requirements for Body and Paint.
• Lead and implement headcount forecast for Operational Planning (MBBP), Pre-calculation (VK) and future strategy decisions by preparing all required reporting within MBUSI and towards Germany.
• Standardize headcount planning in accordance with standards set in other plants within MBC and ensure correct reporting in the WorkForcePlanning software.
• Plan project and ramp-up headcount (ePK) aligned with Body/Paint Project Leaders as well as necessary partners in Germany.
• Lead and support manpower meetings/report-outs across all levels of the organization.
• Drive Continuous Improvement through close collaboration within Series Planning as well as with other Engineering and Production groups.
• Develop and coordinate Production Flow management topics within Body Shop such as throughput time and throughput simulations.
• Determine shop operating models to most effectively utilize headcount and shop run time aligned with other shops and production control team.
• Develop and implement reporting of key performance indicators for the assigned areas on a monthly basis and provide information for required departmental reports and scorecards.
• Support Production on the shop floor to verify headcounts needs and monitor requirement vs. actuals across the shops.
• Support Production with ergonomic studies of all stations Body/Paint as well with planning for new model projects.
• General knowledge of production and quality requirements specific to Body/Paint processes (PLP Requirements/Test Planning)

Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to supervisor or Human Resources. Work safely 100% of the time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.

Education

Bachelor’s degree inIndustrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Supply Chain/Operations Management, Other Engineering in a related area, and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

A minimum of three (3) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s):Engineering function within a manufacturing setting with strong emphasis on manpower planning, Continuous Improvement, and project management.

Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc

• Experience in headcount or process planning.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment.
• Proven capability to develop and support strategic directions for the organization.
• Ability to communicate efficiently, written and verbally, in English.
• Application knowledge: MS Office Suite, TEAMS

Preferred Skills

• Work experience with Mercedes-Benz in product development and in a pre-production environment.
• Proficient in German language able to communicate technical/business information.
• Experience in Simulation software (such has Siemens Technomatix) and manufacturing reporting systems (such as MRS)
