Job summary

ABB in North Carolina seeks a Continuous Improvement Mechanical Technician to drive improvements in the production of Instrument Transformers and related products in ELDS, Pinetops. This onsite role collaborates across operations to implement durable, safe equipment and processes.

You will design, fabricate, install fixtures and tooling; lead Kaizen events; develop documentation; train staff; ensure OSHA and ergonomic standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electromechanical Technology or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on fabrication, electromechanical design, maintenance, machining, welding or related technical work.
• Proficiency in CAD and prototyping for equipment development; strong understanding of lean manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, modify, and install mechanical/electromechanical solutions and fixtures.
• Collaborate with operators to translate improvement ideas into safe, durable solutions.
• Lead or support Kaizen focused on layout, tooling, ergonomic improvements, and material flow.
• Provide build, setup, and commissioning of new or improved equipment and processes.
• Develop and maintain CAD models, drawings, work instructions, and training materials.
• Train staff during process changes and new equipment startups.
• Ensure all solutions meet OSHA safety and ergonomic standards.
