Job summary

nVent seeks a Lean Engineer to strengthen our Oregon, WI manufacturing site within the TRACHTE portfolio. You will drive continuous improvement, safety, quality, and productivity by applying Lean tools and leading cross-functional teams.

Join a global electrical solutions leader and help design standard work, visual management, and sustainable solutions across fabrication, welding, paint, and final assembly. Strong collaboration and project management are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 3+ years applying Lean Manufacturing in a manufacturing environment, incl. Kaizen events and value stream mapping.
  • Experience leading manufacturing process improvement projects (workflow, layout, inventory, material flow, production).
  • Knowledge of Lean tools like 5S, Standard Work, Kanban, value stream mapping, visual management, root-cause analysis.
  • Strong PM, analytical, communication, and influencing skills across all levels of the org.
  • Experience with ERP, MES, or similar manufacturing tech is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and implement manufacturing process improvements using Lean principles to boost safety, quality, productivity, capacity, and flow.
  • Lead improvement projects across fabrication, welding, paint, material handling, and final assembly operations.
  • Partner with operations, quality, engineering, and production teams to prioritize opportunities & implement solutions.
  • Analyze processes, workflows, layouts, and material movement to reduce waste and bottlenecks.
  • Lead Kaizen events and problem-solving activities to identify root causes and sustain improvements.
  • Develop standard work, visual management, and process documentation to improve consistency.
  • Monitor KPIs to evaluate impact and sustain results.

Job description

As a Lean Engineer supporting the nVent TRACHTE portfolio within our Engineered Building Solutions business unit (BU), you’ll play a key role in advancing continuous improvement efforts at our Oregon, WI manufacturing facility. Here, we manufacture engineered steel buildings used to protect critical electrical and control equipment across utility, renewable energy, data center, and industrial applications. This newly created position reflects our investment in manufacturing excellence and future growth at one of this BU’s largest manufacturing operations. Working closely with site operations teams, you’ll help drive improvements that increase consistency, strengthen process execution, and support long-term business objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
  • Identify, develop, and implement manufacturing process improvements that increase safety, quality, productivity, capacity, and material flow through the application of Lean principles and tools.
  • Lead improvement projects across fabrication, welding, paint, material handling, and final assembly operations.
  • Partner with operations, quality, engineering, and production teams to prioritize opportunities and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes, workflows, facility layouts, and material movement to reduce waste, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve flow.
  • Lead Kaizen events and structured problem-solving activities to identify root causes, implement solutions, and sustain improvements.
  • Develop standard work, visual management practices, and process documentation that improve consistency and operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor key performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of improvement initiatives and ensure results are sustained over time.
YOU HAVE:
  • Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience applying Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles within a manufacturing environment, including leading Kaizen events and value stream mapping initiatives.
  • Experience leading manufacturing process improvement projects in areas such as workflow optimization, facility layout, inventory management, material flow, or production operations.
  • Working knowledge of Lean tools and methodologies such as 5S, Standard Work, Kanban, value stream mapping, visual management, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong project management, analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence change across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working with ERP, MES, warehouse management systems, or similar manufacturing technologies is helpful.
