Job summary

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) in Torrance, CA seeks a Continuous Improvement Manager to lead lean manufacturing initiatives, drive efficiency, and improve on-time delivery while reducing cost and waste. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement shop-floor improvements and standardize processes.

You will analyze operations, mentor operators, and monitor KPIs, with opportunities to influence multiple sites and support leadership in sustaining rapid improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of manufacturing experience with lean manufacturing and rapid improvement techniques.
• Minimum of three years of leadership experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, Engineering or Business preferred.
• Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, querying databases, ERP systems.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Export-controlled data access and employment offers conditioned on eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Define activities that require engineered solutions to reduce waste, improve quality, throughput, and safety.
• Lead cross-functional teams on shop floor improvements, potentially including CAPEX.
• Standardize processes and train/certify operators for repeatability.
• Analyze P&L to identify cost reduction, revenue, and margin opportunities.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma, root cause analysis and statistical tools for improvements.
• Act as internal consultant to support plant leadership and teams on continuous improvement.
• Drive consistent visual controls and productivity measurements across production sites.
• Facilitate Kaizen events and sustain improvements with follow-up support.
• Provide training on lean manufacturing concepts and problem-solving techniques.
• Monitor KPIs to track progress and impact of initiatives.
