Job summary

ABB in Portland, TN is seeking an entry-level Production Assembler to support the unit in achieving production targets on site. You will read drawings, assemble products, and perform quality checks on the shop floor.

The role emphasizes following standard work, maintaining a clean 5S workspace, and participating in Lean and Kaizen initiatives. Prior related experience is welcome but not required for this on-site position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one month or less similar or related work experience.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request parts or supplies verbally or in writing.

Responsibilities

• Perform assembly work to produce semi-finished or final products, including packing integrated with production lines.
• Work manually or with light hand tools.
• Carry out regular quality testing as part of the production process.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow standard operating procedures.
• Visual quality inspections
• Place product in box with appropriate count in each box
• Label product and boxes
• Tape boxes
• Lift and carry boxes up to 45 lbs.
• Monitor equipment operation
• Assist in training of new employees
• Maintain work area in clean and orderly fashion - 5S
• Follow standardized work instructions
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing efforts
• Participate in Kaizen events
• Cover other positions following appropriate training as needed
