Help Build Something From the Ground Up

Cable Pipe & Leak Detection (CPL) is growing in East Tennessee and is seeking a motivated individual to become one of the first team members at our Morristown branch.

This is more than a field technician position—it's an opportunity to help build a successful operation from the ground up. As one of our first local employees, you'll work alongside Dave Belus, one of the most experienced leak detection professionals in the industry, learning a specialized trade while also helping support the day-to-day operations of a growing branch.

If you enjoy variety, solving problems, working with people, and taking ownership, this position offers a unique opportunity to develop into a key member of our East Tennessee team.

About the Position

Your primary responsibility will be performing professional leak detection services in the field. However, as part of a growing branch, you'll also assist with many of the operational tasks that keep the business running smoothly.

This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and wants to grow into a leadership role as the office expands.

Field Responsibilities

  • Locate hidden water leaks in residential and commercial plumbing systems
  • Detect slab leaks beneath concrete foundations
  • Locate underground water lines and utilities
  • Perform acoustic and tracer gas leak detection
  • Document findings and explain results to customers and contractors
  • Safely operate and maintain company vehicles and equipment
  • Represent CPL professionally in customers' homes and job sites

This is a diagnostic position only. We do not perform plumbing repairs or excavation work.

Branch Operations Responsibilities

  • Answering inbound customer phone calls
  • Making outbound calls to schedule and confirm appointments
  • Entering customer and job information into our scheduling software
  • Dispatching technicians and coordinating daily schedules
  • Printing work orders, reports, and customer documents
  • Filing paperwork and maintaining organized records
  • Assisting with inventory of tools, parts, and consumable supplies
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and performing basic repairs on equipment and vehicles
  • Helping prepare equipment for upcoming jobs
  • Supporting shipping and receiving of equipment and supplies
  • Assisting with office organization and general administrative duties
  • Helping identify ways to improve systems and processes as the branch grows

As the Tennessee office expands, responsibilities may evolve, providing opportunities for increased responsibility and career advancement.

You'll receive structured training combining field experience, and hands‑on mentoring from one of the industry's most experienced technicians.

Compensation

  • $20-22/hour after completing training and milestones
  • Overtime opportunities
  • On-Call compensation
  • Company vehicle (after training)
  • Company issued tools and specialized equipment
  • Paid training
  • Paid time off

  • A strong communicator over the phone and in person
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable using tools
