Job summary

City of Iowa City is seeking an Hourly Maintenance Worker to support the Streets Leaf Removal Program. The role involves removing leaves for curbside pickup and operating light equipment under supervision. Schedule negotiable within a 7:00am–3:30pm window and positions may be 18+ with a valid license.

A CDL with a satisfactory driving record is preferred; drug testing applies for CDL holders. Start and end dates are negotiable, with anticipated staffing needs from September to December.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform heavy outdoor work.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; must be 18.
• CDL preferred; pre-employment drug screen and FMCSA Clearinghouse participation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in leaf removal for curbside pickup.
• Clean equipment, buildings and grounds; operate light motorized equipment as needed.
• Perform unskilled manual labor tasks and general street maintenance as required.
