Job summary

The City of Iowa City is hiring a Maintenance Worker II – Forestry in the Parks & Forestry Division. This full-time position offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Under supervision, you will plant and maintain trees and landscape plantings in rights-of-way, parks, and public areas. A high school diploma or GED plus 4–6 months of related experience is required; CDL Class A with air brake endorsements are needed within 6 months, and a pre-employment drug screen applies.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED and 4–6 months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in urban forestry.
• Forklift and backhoe certification within probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Plants and maintains trees and landscape plantings located in City’s rights-of-way, parks and other public areas.
• Performs related duties as assigned by Parks & Forestry Division.
