Job summary

Vertex is seeking a proven leader to head the cell Foundry, guiding stem cell and islet differentiation efforts for the Type-1 diabetes program. You will manage a team, coordinate across R&D, and drive innovations in cell therapy processes to accelerate discovery and development.

The role requires a Ph.D. (or equivalent) with substantial leadership experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced research environment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. (or equivalent) in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related field with 4–7 years post-doc experience, or
• Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or
• Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the cell Foundry team supporting T1D programs in stem cell, islet cell, and immunology needs.
• Innovate, streamline, and automate stem cell expansion and directed differentiation workflows.
• Prioritize projects and communicate with leadership to meet IND-enabling activities.
• Partner with stakeholders to plan and execute experiments across cell types and lines.
• Present data in reports and presentations, and maintain data integrity and records.
