Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals LLC in Boston, MA, is seeking an Associate Director of Stem Cell Research to lead the Cell Foundry, directing human pluripotent stem cell culture, differentiation, and SC-islet production to enable the Cell & Gene Therapy pipeline, with focus on T1D programs.

The role oversees a multidisciplinary team, mentors scientists, and partners with cross-functional groups to drive IND-enabling studies, ensure data integrity, and deliver high-quality regulatory documents.

Qualifications

Ph.D. (or equivalent) with 4-7 years of post-doctoral experience or Masters with 7+ years of experience or Bachelors with 10+ years of experience in molecular/cell biology.
Demonstrated leadership of high-performing teams and cross-functional collaboration.
Strong communication skills and ability to mentor junior scientists and manage projects.

Responsibilities

Lead the Cell Foundry team for stem cell, islet cell, and immunology efforts supporting T1D programs.
Innovate, streamline, and automate stem cell expansion and directed differentiation processes.
Prioritize projects and coordinate with leadership to meet key deliverables and IND-enabling activities.
Collaborate with stakeholder teams to plan experiments and share data in reports and presentations.
Ensure data integrity and regulatory documentation quality; draft departmental documents for submissions.
