Job summary

WSP is seeking a full-time wetland ecologist to lead field surveys and permitting for projects across the North Mountain region, including WA, CO, UT, ID, MT, WY, OR, and more. The role emphasizes independent work within a team and a track record of wetland surveys and permitting with USACE and state agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
• 5+ years of field experience leading and permitting aquatic resource delineation.
• 5+ years prior consulting work, ideally with linear corridor projects (e.g., pipelines, transmission).
• Familiarity with USACE protocols and state survey requirements for aquatic resources.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be able to work in remote conditions and independently or as part of a small survey team.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must be willing to travel periodically throughout the region with potential travel across the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead wetland field delineation and permitting efforts across the North Mountain Region.
• Support biological field surveys including rare plants and wildlife species.
• Serve as lead wetland ecologist for NEPA and state permitting requirements.
• Support the environmental project team on transmission, pipelines, and energy projects.
• Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and safety policies.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field
