Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of SMAW and GMAW-flux core.
• Ability to read and interpret operating and procedure manuals.
• Knowledge of welding machines, tools, and maintenance.
• Leadership and production planning skills.
• Familiarity with the metric system.
• Strong attention to detail and communication.
• Safety protocols and regulations knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in welding and cutting of products and structures.
• Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations required.
• Requisitions supplies such as weld rods, weld wire, gases, and fixtures.
• Inspects work to maintain specified standards and quality.
• Trains workers in operation of equipment.
• Set up machines and make trial welds.
• Supervise fitting and assembly of structural frames.
• Ensure that equipment is being properly handled, protected and maintained.
• Prepare records and reports about subordinates and tasks being carried out on the project.
• Work with prescribed budgets and maintain job cost control.
• Review and submit timesheets for assigned crew.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
