Job summary

Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is seeking a skilled MIG/Pulse Welder to join the Weld department, directing day-to-day welding activities and ensuring safe, high-quality production.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years welding experience, including Life Fitness-specific welding, and prior supervisory experience; strong communication, problem solving, and ability to read prints and process sheets; forklift operation may be required.

Qualifications

• MIG/Pulse welding experience with 3–5 years in a production setting.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Strong English reading/writing/speaking skills and ability to direct a team.

Responsibilities

• Train and direct the work of department employees in their responsibilities and safe procedures.
• Perform welding functions, set-up and operate equipment in the department as needed, including MIG/Pulse welding.
• Promote adherence to the production schedule to maintain inventory levels.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time.
• Perform Oracle transactions.
• Communicate and coordinate with other departments as needed.
• Report shortages, poor quality, supply needs, equipment breakdowns, safety hazards, incidents and performance issues to the supervisor.
• Operate forklift, hoist and pallet jack.

JOB PURPOSE

Assist in directing the day-to-day aspects of the Weld area while participating in the production of quality parts as needed to maximize safety, productivity and quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Train and direct the work of department employees in their responsibilities and safe working procedures
• Perform welding functions, set-up and operate all equipment in the department as needed
• Promote adherence to the production schedule in order to maintain accurate inventory levels
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
• Perform accurate and timely Oracle transactions
• Communicate and coordinate with other departments as needed
• Report shortages, poor quality, supply needs, equipment breakdowns, safety hazards, incidents and performance issues to the supervisor
• Operate forklift, hoist and pallet jack

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experienced and proficient MIG/Pulse Welder with 3 - 5 years welding experience, including Life Fitness specific welding experience
• Previous leadership experience preferred
• Solid organizational and problem solving skills
• Effectively communicate in English (read, write, speak and understand), including giving clear work direction to team members
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Read prints/work instructions
• Read and complete process sheets
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment
• Proficient computer skills including Oracle and email
• Have tools necessary for the job

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Lift up to 30 lbs up to 60% of shift and 50 lbs less than 30% of shift; push/pull up to 30 lbs
• Walk, stand, bend, twist/turn, reach overhead and grasp tools as necessary
• Operate forklift, hoist and pallet jack

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

At Life Fitness / Hammer Strength, we believe in taking care of our team with a comprehensive total rewards package that includes competitive pay and a range of valuable benefits. Your base wage will be between $30.75 - $41.25 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual wage offer will be based on qualifications, experience, location, and other relevant factors. You'll have the opportunity to participate in the Production Bonus Plan, which provides opportunities to earn additional compensation based on performance metrics. Bonus eligibility is subject to meeting certain production goals and other criteria as outlined. This position is eligible for a $2.00 per hour shift differential for hours worked on 2nd shift, in addition to the base hourly wage.
