Job summary

Super Steel in Wisconsin Mequon is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to shift from field auditing to a leadership-focused role. You will supervise high-level visual inspections, mentor welders, and help map quality processes to meet AWS D1.1, ASME, and customer codes.

The role blends hands-on inspection with coaching, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen our fabrication workforce.

Qualifications

• Active AWS CWI certification is highly preferred or proven senior welder ready to test.
• Strong, functional knowledge of structural welding codes (AWS D1.1, ASME).
• Exceptional communication skills and passion for training and developing welders.
• Professional comfort logging test results using MS Office and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead precise visual and dimensional inspections on complex weldments.
• Mentor and train welders, oversee new-hire weld testing and skill validation.
• Ensure shop procedures and welding configurations meet AWS D1.1, ASME, and customer codes.
• Review and map destructive and non-destructive testing documentation for compliance.
• Maintain accurate inspection reports, weld maps, and quality records.
