Job summary

Super Steel in Mequon, WI is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and Lead Weld Instructor to join our team. You will perform hands-on visual inspection while coaching and mentoring welders across our heavy structural fabrication operation.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with AWS D1.1 and ASME IX, overseeing welder qualification and welding tests, and developing welding procedures and best practices in a culture of quality and safety.

Qualifications

Must hold AWS CWI certification and apply welding inspection principles.
Experience with AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX.
Hands-on welding/inspection in fabrication or manufacturing.
Excellent communication and ability to teach others.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities

Perform visual inspection of welded fabrications and verify compliance with specifications and codes.
Support welding quality assurance activities throughout the fabrication process.
Interpret and apply AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX requirements.
Oversee welder qualification and weld testing.
Train, coach, and mentor welders on proper welding techniques, quality expectations, and code requirements.
Collaborate with production and quality teams to address welding issues.
Help develop and reinforce welding procedures, standards, and best practices.
Serve as a technical resource for welders, supervisors, and the manufacturing team.
Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
