Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD seeks a Weapons Systems Test Engineer to lead planning and execution of tests for advanced strike weapon systems. You will provide systems test engineering expertise to guide test strategy, planning, execution and reporting for credible verification.

Responsibilities include coordinating resources, evaluating performance, and delivering results to sponsors. Travel and security clearances are required as per policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of systems test engineering experience on complex systems.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams with sponsors.
  • Willing to travel 15-20% to sponsor sites.
  • Eligible for Interim Secret and Top Secret/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary teams with sponsors and partners.
  • Assess weapon system requirements and test implications.
  • Develop test strategy and objectives for ground and flight tests.
  • Develop test requirements, plans and schedules for tests.
  • Evaluate performance and safety implications for flight tests.
  • Coordinate test resources across facilities and sites.
  • Analyze test results and recommend design/test improvements.
  • Deliver presentations and reports to sponsors and stakeholders.
