Plante Moran, a leading US accounting and advisory firm, seeks an experienced tax leader to manage tax planning and returns for high-net-worth clients and family offices in a Chicago-area role. You will oversee complex partnerships, fiduciary matters, and wealth transfers, collaborating with advisory teams and clients to optimize outcomes.

Role requires CPA or Bar license, 5+ years in public accounting, and willingness to travel regionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or Bar license preferred.
• Experience with high net worth individuals, S-corporations, C-corporations, partnerships, LLCs, trusts, and private foundations.
• Fiduciary and estate tax planning and compliance expertise.

Responsibilities

• Manage tax planning process with the client and advisory team to optimize wealth management goals.
• Review tax returns for high-net-worth and family office clients (federal, foreign, state, local, estimates, extensions, audits).
• Involvement in estate planning and wealth transfer projects.
• Determine tax objectives, scope and methodology; participate in decision making with client's management.
• Identify tax solutions and opportunities including credits arising from tax changes.
• Leverage technology (CCH Axcess) to maximize project application and ensure quality.
• Serve as the primary engagement manager with billing, realization and collections.
