Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Orlando, Florida office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4+ years of experience to support the Water/Wastewater and utilities team. The role focuses on designing water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, and water treatment facilities, with emphasis on project management and client coordination.

The candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and schedules, and interact with clients and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience.
  • P.E. license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Municipal engineering experience including pump stations, pipelines, and water/wastewater facilities.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, etc.).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with potential to lead a practice and manage clients and a team.

Responsibilities

  • Design water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, conveyance systems, and treatment facilities.
  • Manage project tasks, design, permitting, construction coordination, and provide guidance to staff.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to complete projects.
  • Maintain high-quality sets of plans and review others’ work.
  • Create work plans and manage budgets set by clients.
  • Attend meetings with clients, government entities, and regulators to meet project requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules.
  • Build internal and external professional relationships.
  • Collaborate with jurisdictions and contractors on various projects.
