Job summary

City of Grand Rapids is seeking a Professional Engineer to lead and supervise engineering work for the Grand Rapids Water System. You will oversee planning, design, construction, and maintenance of projects, coordinating with consultants and city departments.

The role requires a PE license, a civil/electrical/mechanical engineering background, and at least four years in professional engineering, with two in water systems. On-site work with comprehensive benefits is provided.

Qualifications

• BA or MS in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
• Four years of professional engineering experience, with at least two in city water systems.
• Professional Engineer license required.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex water system capital projects, including planning, design and construction.
• Oversee consultants, contractors, and vendors.
• Manage predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, communications, and electrical systems.
• Prepare and manage the water distribution budget, including personnel, equipment, services, supplies, and utilities.
• Supervise and mentor staff; succession planning.
