Job summary

The City of Grand Rapids is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead investigations, design, construction, and maintenance of the Grand Rapids Water System. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
• Four years of professional engineering experience, with at least two in city water systems.
• Professional Engineer license.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex water system capital projects, including planning, design and construction.
• Collaborate with Engineering and other City departments to oversee consultants, contractors, and vendors.
• Oversee operations and maintenance of water distribution facilities (pump stations, storage tanks, transmission mains).
• Prepare requests for proposals and establish timelines to ensure successful project completion.
• Review plans and specifications to ensure compliance with city specifications and strategic plans.
• Supervise and mentor mechanics and support staff; provide leadership and succession planning.
