Job summary

City of Grand Rapids is seeking a senior civil engineer to lead design, development, and maintenance of the city’s water system. You will supervise engineering activities, prepare plans, specifications, bids, and cost estimates for water projects.

You will coordinate with consultants, contractors, and city departments; manage budgets; and plan 5–20 year capital programs, asset maintenance, and system reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
• Four (4) years of professional engineering experience, with two (2) years in city water systems.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex water system capital projects from planning to construction.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and city departments; oversee studies and cost estimates.
• Prepare and manage the water distribution budget; supervise staff and asset maintenance.
