Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineer to lead stormwater and drainage design projects in the Chicago area.

You will oversee H&H modeling, calculations, and technical reports, while guiding junior engineers and coordinating with cross-functional teams across transportation, data centers, and municipal infrastructure. The role emphasizes proficiency with ORD/Civil 3D, GIS, HydroCAD, and hydraulic analysis to deliver planning and design for watershed and floodplain

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a Water Resources focus.
5-7 years of post-education experience in water resources engineering.
Proficient with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, SWMM, FlowMaster).
Experience with Civil 3D or ORD and design/drafting tools.
Strong knowledge of stormwater management, drainage design, floodplain analysis, and regulations.
Ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate junior staff and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Lead portions of stormwater and water resources planning, analysis, and design tasks with a focus on H&H modeling.
Develop and review engineering calculations for runoff, routing, detention sizing, and hydraulic capacity.
Lead H&H modeling using industry-standard software to evaluate drainage systems and flood risks.
Prepare stormwater management plans, drainage reports, and technical memoranda with clear methodology.
Lead the design and delivery of stormwater infrastructure and conveyance networks.
Develop figures and model outputs to support technical reports and documentation.
Coordinate drafting and plan production for stormwater/drainage design efforts.
Review site data to inform drainage design and modeling efforts.
Provide QA/QC and guidance to junior staff to ensure timely, on-budget delivery.
