Job summary

HR Green in Aurora, IL is seeking a Lead Engineer to grow our Water Resources practice, with a focus on ecological design and restoration within civil infrastructure. You will serve as a technical leader on projects ranging from flood control to stream restoration, guiding complex analyses and designs with input from ecologists and multidisciplinary teams.

This role emphasizes hands-on engineering, collaboration, and mentorship rather than business development; you’ll drive technical solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 10+ years of civil/water resources experience.
• PE license is required.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D with corridor modeling.
• Experience with stream restoration and large-scale flood control.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform complex technical work for water resources and civil infrastructure projects.
• Serve as a technical SME on projects involving stream restoration, flood control, earthwork, grading, bridge and culvert projects.
• Develop practical solutions that integrate ecological restoration with civil design.
• Guide engineering analysis, design, and problem-solving from planning through construction.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate technical solutions across disciplines.
• Mentor engineers and project staff, supporting their technical growth.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly with project teams and stakeholders.
