Job summary

City of St. Louis in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Water Plant Maintenance Mechanic (Lead) to supervise a crew, install and overhaul heavy equipment, and weld piping systems across water treatment facilities.

The role requires hands-on leadership, expertise with pumps, boilers, and cranes, and the ability to work in confined/deep spaces. Applicants should have welding/pipefitting training or equivalent experience and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy mechanical equipment including welding and pipe work.
• OR completion of a welding, pipefitting, or millwright apprenticeship program plus one year of experience.
• OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Install, overhaul, and maintain large machinery such as pumps, intake screens, sluice gates, valves, boilers, cooling towers, and air compressors.
• Perform field welding on pipes and structures in compliance with industry standards.
• Operate overhead cranes and rig large machinery; lead a crew and plan work.
• Ensure safety equipment is on site and properly used; maintain work records and reports.
